Breastfeeding€¦ naturally €“ Book Review

When it comes to breastfeeding, and when it comes to getting the best information and support, there's nothing like the real thing.

There is still a great deal of ignorance about breastfeeding. Sadly, many people take on board - and pass on - information that is incorrect, contradictory or inconsistent. That's why it's important that parents have access to the accurate information and empathetic support that is the hallmark of the Australian Breastfeeding Association.
The association is pleased to announce the new edition of Breastfeeding … naturally. Completely revised and expanded, it offers new parents a comprehensive guide that takes them from preparing for breastfeeding to weaning. It tackles, head on, the many barriers that confront mothers in the face of a culture that is not always supportive of their commitment to breastfeeding. ;

As the editor of Breastfeeding… naturally says in conclusion "Breastfeeding is a remarkable experience. You have the satisfaction on knowing that you are giving your baby not only a healthy beginning, but also a lifetime advantage; you have the confidence that comes from appreciating that it is something that only you can do for your baby; you know that the intensity and the intimacy of breastfeeding creates a lifelong bond between you and your baby. That's what the Australian Breastfeeding Association wants for all mothers."

The 2004 edition of Breastfeeding…naturally was edited by Jill Day, who has drawn on the vast body of knowledge of the association's Lactation Resource Centre and the wealth of experience of its members. Jill Day has been a breastfeeding counsellor since 1988, encouraging and supporting thousands of other breastfeeding mothers. A past president of the association, for more than 10 years she has written widely about breastfeeding for both parents and health professionals and is a regular contributor to parenting magazines and websites.
